ANZAC Day Weekend Excursion

BALAKLAVA GLIDING CLUB

PORT VINCENT TRIP

The Club is planning a trip to Port Vincent over the weekend 25th, 26th and 27th April. The primary reason for the trip is to give less experienced pilots an opportunity to fly from a different site. While we will welcome some paying passengers the focus will be on members flying and any attending for the day will get a flight without having to work all day.
The number of gliders going will depend on the number of members attending. I encourage all members to attend, particularly newer members as they can gain more experience and it can be a lot of fun and good for club moral. If some members can only attend for one day why not organise a carload. Those able to attend more than one day will have more opportunities to fly over a very attractive area.
The field we will be flying from is close to the town so a good view of the town and bay is available on every flight.

Overnight accommodation is available with Tuckerway Hostel having no bookings for the 25th &26th at this time. This hostel is known to a lot of our members having at least 30 bunk beds in four rooms plus a couple of "honeymoon suites". It is BYO linen, food &drinks and a kitchen area is available along with a large dining/recreation area. The Club has had some great times staying there. The toilet facilities are basic but clean with the rule being that everybody "mucks in" to clean up before moving out.
There is also a camping area and a few caravan sites with campers and caravaners having access to the kitchen and dining area and also the inside toilets and showers if club members occupy a lot of beds. There is also an outside bbq area where the club has had a combined tea on one night on each visit to the town.

Accommodation fees are:
Hostel- $13.00 per head per night,
Campers & Caravaners- $5.00 per head per night.

Tuckerway phone no. 08 8853 7285

If you prefer a cabin or powered campsite there is the Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park phone 08 8853 7073.
Cabins may also be available at Karens Cabins [Heidi's Mum] phone 08 8839 2080.

There is a list on the notice board for you to indicate your intentions including days attending accommodation etc. Please advise your intentions as soon as possible as there are only two and half weeks to go. If you can't put your name on the list but intend going or you want information on numbers going contact me or Tim Lacey. You will need to arrange your own accommodation booking.
This Club outing has always been popular and the more members attending the better time had by all, much like the Flinders Trip.

Hope to see you there

John W
